About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Kenneth, I definitely feel the same way as you do! Respect goes a lot farther than being liked. We are not in the business to win a popularity contest. Let's educate! Patricia Scales
Hi Alvin, Awesome response! You are definitely on point. The student/instructor relationship should be strictly business. Patricia Scales
Hi David, Well stated! We should be the professionals that we want our students to become. Students really do emulate us. Patricia Scales
Hi Marvin, I agree! At the end of each course have your students evaluate you. It is amazing how you can become even better from constructive feedback on the student evaluations. Patricia Scales
Hi Michael, I feel slighted when I have determined that one of my students have cheated after having a THOROUGH study guide and review. Patricia Scales
Hi Mazen, We know our students abilities. If you every suspect something fishy going on, dig deep into the situation, such as gooling questionable writing. Patricia Scales
Hi Laura, I concur! As instructors we cannot be distant from our students. We have to approach them if they do not approach us. Patricia Scales
Hi Jane, I agree! Regardless of the class being online or in seat, I encourage my students to ask questions, and I let them know that no question is a dumb question. Patricia Scales
Hi Joel, Keep up the great work! These are sure ways to build a strong rapport with your students. Students like to be paid attention to by the instructor. Patricia Scales
Hi April, We need to get to know our students so that they know we really care about them and their success. Patricia Scales
