About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Rebecca, Students like knowing that you geniunely care about them. Patricia Scales
Hi Mark, I agree! When you know your students, you quickly realize when they are not acting like themselves, and you can offer help . Patricia Scales
Hi Danielle, I agree! We need to make a great effort to get to know our students. Every student is different and must be dealt with accordingly. Patricia Scales
Hi Paula, I like how you include professional dress in your curriculum. Students need to know what professional dress is or at least appropriate dress for their line of work. Patricia Scales
Hi Tangee, I hear you! I love your approach. By asking questions you get the students to realize it is all on them. Patricia Scales
Hi Paul, What do you do to capture your students attention? Patricia Scales
Jennifer, Great way to promote course relevancy. Students can shed light on a lot of useful ways to benefit from a course when they have to think about it. Patricia Scales
Hi Ali, I like how you get the students involved to help them determine the relevancy of the course. It makes a big difference when students understand why they are taking a course. Patricia Scales
Hi Deb, Excellent informationa to share with students to get them to buy into the course. I let my students know on Day 1 early into the period "WHY" they are taking the class and the benefits of it. Patricia Scales
Hi Ronda, Age is only a number. Try separating yourself from the students by having higher standards, make a strong professional presence, and lead by example so that they know you are the authoritarian. Patricia Scales
