About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Shonna, I concur! Small works better for silent students. They will shut down in large groups. Patricia Scales
Hi Martin, You can really empathize with the silent student. As long as the silent student is grasping, I do not have a concern with them. I also make sure they participate when they are called upon. They are not your big volunteers. Patricia Scales
Hi Sharena, I concur that better clarity is added when examples are shared. Patricia Scales
Hi Jeffery, Students love when we can demonstrate to them what is expected. Visual adds clarity. Patricia Scales
Hi Rose, Excitement starts at the top with the instructor! Patricia Scales
Hi Lukas, It is the nature of the course where being witted and humorous will show insensitivity. Focus on being thorough with you teaching in these type courses; not much humor should be displayed here. Patricia Scales
Hi Spring, In order to reach the majority of the students, it is good to include visual aid. Patricia Scales
Hi David, As instructors, if we preach to our students the importance of time, we must certainly be timely. Patricia Scales
