About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi James, Visual is everything in education. Patricia Scales
Hi Jason, Examples can serve as a great motivator to students. Some students really take the example and go above and beyond as to what is expected. Patricia Scales
Hi Harry, Absolutely! The first day is the day to make sure everything is clear to the students. Patricia Scales
Hi Angela, The board is a great visual. Students seem to have a better understanding when they can actually see it. Patricia Scales
Hi Charles, I love guided notes and have found out that students do too. Students seem to be more attentive when they have something to guide them. Patricia Scales
Hi Connie, Examples provide better clarity for students. Patricia Scales
Hi Tabitha, I like the idea of socailization. Students tend to be more at ease when they know they have support from their peers. Patricia Scales
Hi Michelle, It is obvious to tell those who are there for the paycheck, and those who have teaching in our hearts. If teaching is truly your passion, it is easy to get students excited about what they are learning. Patricia Scales
Hi Sandhya, Great ideas! When students can really see/understand how the course applies to their career, they take more of an interest in the course. Patricia Scales
Hi Aimi, Students enjoy it when share applicable examples to their careers. Patricia Scales
