About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Jennifer, This is definitely applying learning to the real world. This is a great activity to get students to think critically. Patricia Scales
Hi Paul, I am sure students get this based on the way you break everything down...very interesting. Patricia Scales
Hi Robert, Note taking is really effective when teaching a course. You have in writing what worked and what did not. Great reference to refer to at a later point, instead of trying to recall everything from memory. Patricia Scales
Hi Kerry, You are on point! Make learning apply to what they will encounter on the job. Patricia Scales
Hi Richard, This is exactly what you want to do. You want to make learning applicable to the real world. Continue to share your experiences, students enjoy them. Patricia Scales
Hi Virginia, Preparation is a must in order to do well. Patricia Scales
Hi Vincent, Everyone certainly is different! You are fortunate, you can be effective with less preparation. I have been teaching for over 23 years, and preparation is key for me! Patricia Scales
Hi Tena, You are on target! We should be the professionals that we want our students to emulate. Patricia Scales
Hi Allen, Preparation is key! Note taking is a super idea. You will quickly realize, the more you teach a course, you will get even better. Patricia Scales
Hi Davina, I agree! A simple smile, hello, How are you?, etc. go a long way. All students are important, and they should be made to feel as such. Patricia Scales
