About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Brian, Preparation is key! Our students thoroughly check us out in every area. We have to always be on our toes. Patricia Scales
Hi Adrienne, As an instructor, we should always be learning. I am a life-long learner. Patricia Scales
Hi Robbi, Guest speakers add a lot of flavor to the course. They put things in perspective as they appear in the real world. Students love hearing scenarios that took place in the workplace. Patricia Scales
Hi Timothy, I like how you get students involved in your lecture. Students do not want to hear us lecture to them the entire period. It makes learning more entertaining when everyone is involved. Patricia Scales
Hi Ashley, Anytime you make learning apply to the real world, students understand the relevance of the course. Patricia Scales
Hi Diane, You do a fine job of ensuring your students know exactly what is expected of them. Patricia Scales
Hi Ryan, I like for students to find classified ads as they pertain to the course or skill set they will be obtaining from the course so that they see that the course will definitely help them in their career. Patricia Scales
Hi Robbi, Students love to hear of our experiences/stories as they apply to the real world. I like for students to understand how the course can help them in their career to gain buy in from them. Patricia Scales
Hi Candace, Set yourself apart from your students. Age is only a number. Show your students how a true professional should act. Make your students want to be like you when they grow up, so to speak. Patricia Scales
Hi LeJean, Absolutely! As an instructor, we must set boundaries and play the role of the instructor. Students do not need another friend, they need as many professional role models as possible. Patricia Scales
