About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Katrina, Isn't that the truth! Students must know that you genuinely care about them and their success. Patricia
Hi Abundio, You have made some excellent points! It appears you have yourself together as an instructor. I bet your students appreciate how prepared, organized, and professional you are. Patricia
Hi Barry, You have great beliefs as an instructor. I can tell you have built some trusting relationships with your students, and your students know where to draw the line. It appears you are very caring, and you want your students to be successful, but they must put forth great effort to earn their grades, and you give them the grades they earned. Keep up the great work! Patricia
Hi Servet, What a great connection to establish by knowing your student names. It means a lot to students when you know their names, an automatic rapport is in the making. Patricia
Hello Gary, You are working on some very important traits with your students. I am sure in years to come they will remember the impact Mr. Bryant made in their lives. Continue to make a difference. Patricia
Hi Jose, I was 23 years old when I first started teaching on this level. I understand the challenges you face with older students. My students quickly realize even though I was young, but I had the knowledge to help change their lives for the better. I always displayed the highest level of professionalism, and my great reputation preceded itself. She is "young", but she knows her stuff! I am sure you know your "stuff." Patricia
Hello Sabrina, At my institution we have adopted a professional service that has experts to deal with any kind of challenges a student may have, such as pyschiatrists, psychologists, financial counselors, substance abuse counselors, etc. The service has been very beneficial to our institution, but most importantly to the students. We found the service through United Way. Gernerally, there is a United Way in every city. Look into this. Patricia
Hi Joshula, How effective has this tactic been for you, and how have your students reacted to the tactic. I am thinking this works great. Patricia
Hi Donald, It sounds like you do not tolerate foolishness, and I don't blame you! You must be in control of your class, otherwise your students will control you. Continue to maintain a conducive learning environment in your classroom. Patricia
Hello Sabrina, I too love the idea of the WIIFM. Students want to know what's in it for them (me). It sounds like you do a good job selling the WIIFM of your course on the very first day. Keep up the good work! Patricia
