About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Frances, As educators, we have to remember we are some of our students ONLY cheerleaders. We have to pump them up. Patricia
Hi Carrie, I've seen after a student has written down their complaint, they realize it is no big deal, and the problem takes care of itself. Patricia
Hi Carrie, For new instructors before the first day of class this list can serve as a proactive list instead of a reactive list. Brand new instructors can really benefit from this before the first day of class. Patricia
Hello Nancy, What a great psychological approach to take to this. Students want to appear intelligent in front of their peers. Patricia
Hi Karen, Your students want you to be helpful, and they need our encouragement. Patricia
Hi Sara, Super points expressed! You have to map things out when you are an instructor. The plan has to be in place. It is always good to have more than enough materials. I like how you give the students an additional acitivity for reinforcement. Patricia
Hi Anne, I am sure your students appreciate and/or can respect your straightforwardness. As I can see, you do not leave any room for guessing. You make things known up front, and you have documentation to back you. Super! Patricia
Hi Michael, You teach the perfect class to get your students interested and involved. I visualized as I was reading your response, and I became excited. I can see how your students become interested on Day 1. Patricia
Hi Stanley, Nice response! You are on point! At any educational institution the student is the number 1 customer! Patricia
Hi Charlin, Yes, this is typical of the younger generation. What other challenges have you had with the younger students? Patricia
