About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Laura, Wow, how the shy student really came out of her shell. I've learned that shy students enjoy active learning. Active learning brings out the best in shy students. Patricia
Hi James, It is important to go over the assignment/test once papers have been given back. So that everything is clear. Patricia
Hi David, Excitement starts with the instructor. Excitement is a trickle down effect. Normally, if the instructor is excited, the students will become excited. Patricia
Hi Patricia, Having students do board work is an excellent way to keep students interested and involved. Patricia
Hi Teague, You bet, the Top Gun normally gets results. You did the right thing to get higher authority involved. Patricia
Hi Jacqueline, How creative! Anything that is personalized is a big seller. People love to be paid attention to. Patricia
Hi Tina, I certainly understand your points. You've made some valid points. These type students will even go into the work place pointing fingers. These students need to be talked to and told to take responsibility for their own actions. People do not want to hear their whining and excuses. Patricia
Hi Amy, Absolutely! It should be a very distinct difference between the professional relationship and friendship. Boundaries must be established. Patrici
