About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Michael, I would honor their request, but I would let them know that it would have a negative impact on their participation grade. In the same breath, I would encourage them to respond in class. Patricia
Hi Robert, Great points made! Guest speakers are great for reinforcement! Patricia
Hi Homer, Never shoot a student's answer down. Try to encourage/guide the student as much as possible. Patricia
Hi Rebecca, Focus on how they can benefit from the knowledge learned in the course to utilize in the workplace. Patricia
Hi Renee, It is good to have variation when it comes to learning methods due to the different types of learners. Patricia
Hi Shalika, Students love and enjoy hearing our stories. Patricia
Hi Allison, Never single out a student! If you bark, they will bark louder. Have a private one-on-one conversation. Patricia
Hi Rebecca, There are not any specific rules I follow. I am a well respected instructor, and I carry myself professionally at all times. I have an open door policy, and I am very approachable. I am also very easy to talk to. These charateristics will definitely help build rapport. Patrici
Hi Rody, There should be no mistaken that you are their instructor ONLY. Patricia
