About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Rebecca, When students know that the material is focused on their career aspirations they automatically become excited and interested. Patricia
Hi Ron, I have seen where the instructor had done their part so far as thoroughly preparing the students for a test, but the student did not do their part so far as studying. The student felt unprepared due to lack of preparation on their part, and thus cheated.
Hi David, Great idea! You're right, if students know they are going to perform in front of their peers, they will pay close attention so that they don't embarrass themselves. Patricia
Hi Susan, Preparation is key! Students can quickly tell when you are unprepared, which can ruin your reputation. Patricia
Hi Joseph, You are on point! I suppose you have very little cheating in your classes. Patricia
Hi Quintin, Theory is good, but there is nothing like life experiences. I like how you share with your students the good and bad of the field that you have experienced. Patricia
Hi Vicki, I like the consistency your institution uses with the MCO. Also, I am sure your students appreciate getting models to help prepare for papers and projects. I've always found out as well them examples are extremely helpful to the students. Patricia
Hi Barbara, Nicely stated! You're right, there are many things that come into play to create a positive image. Image has various external and internal factors, such as dress, neatness, attitude, persona, demeanor, etc. Patricia
Hi Wilfred, Students really appreciate knowing how various concepts are going to benefit them in the real world. If students understand the revelance of learning a concept, he or she generally becomes interested. Patricia
Hi Chuck, Great response! I can tell you are an enthusiastic instructor. Keep up the good work! As you mentioned, excitement is really a trickle down effect. If the instructor is excited about teaching the course, the student generally is excited about learning the materail. Patricia
