About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Claire, I like it! You handled things. I agree if they knew it yesterday, they should know it today. Patricia
Hi Danette, You're right, most if not all of your topics are applicable to life. Whenever students understand the relevance of a concept/topic they automatically become engaged. Patricia
Hi Gerald, What type of explanation do you give to capture your students attention? Patricia
Hi Lin, This is a great way to generate class discussion. I am sure you have discovered that some students participate very little or not at all because of not doing the reading. Patricia
Hi Rolando, You take your job very seriously! I can tell you go into class 100% prepared. Kudos! Patricia
Hi Tom, Showing examples is extremely helpful. Students love it, and they appreciate it. Patricia
Hi Anthony, Great list! What useful ways to show how the content relates. Patricia
Hi Candace, Students really look forward to receiving this type of information on Day 1. You will even have a few students that will work ahead to get a good jump start. Patricia
Hi William, I have experienced students that have had some level of expertise in the subject matter, and I utilized them as examples in various lectures. Patricia
Hi Troy, Learing the concepts/material while they are in training (school) will definitely cause a lot less headaches when they get in the field. Patricia
