About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Quebec, I concur! As an instructor we have a lot on us, because our success depends on our students success. We must prepare our students thoroughly. Patricia
Hi Patricia, I would like to add as well so that they know WHAT they are doing. Patricia
Hi Ghia, Be great role models for our students. Our students need professionals to emulate. Patricia
Hi Nancy, Students will certainly buy into a course if they have experienced being on the other side of the fence. They get it because they have gone through it. Patricia
Hi Glenn, We need to give our students as much heads up as possible. Students love and need to hear our real life experiences as they apply to the content being delivered. Patricia
Hi Donna, Study guides are great for students to have. If they fail the test, they tend to take more responsibility because of having a study guide provided by the instructor. I can certainly see how a study guide can help minimize cheating. Patricia
Hi Donna, We have to prepare/study even more than the students. We have to be ready when our students need us, and we have to be able to explain the content in a way so that all students understand. Preparation is key! Patricia
Hi Maria, Guest speakers are fabulous. Guest speakers can certainly be used as a networking tool. Patricia
Hi Emmie, We must lead by example. Our students do need to see professionalism while they are attending school. Patricia
Hi Donna, Some students you do have to limit, otherwise they will take over the discussion time. Patricia
