About me

I teach high school business and marketing as well as sponsor DECA.

Activity

Clear communication is an essential teaching and life skill. It is something that I have worked on throughout my teaching career and will continue to modify and adjust.

Providing resources and inkind donations is extremely helpful. This is also something my students work on when we learn about sports and entertainment marketing and sponsorship.

The demographics is something I try to pay close attention to. But I have never thought about the size of the business and I know that is something I should analyze and make sure that I am looking at a wide variety of business sizes for my connections for students.

I learned that it is important to have one of your community partners be a faith based leader. This is not something I have done before.

Going over the rubric, step by step, with students before the presentation is great advice. I often refer to it but taking the time to meet with them will help them see where there are gaps.

The use of check lists is one that I will apply to my classroom.

Wait time is such a powerful tool in the classroom. I also love the power of having students connect and share their work in a variety of strategies.

Using SMART goals with students can help them to stay on track, but it also requires the teacher to check in and model how it is done.

The onboarding process is not really something I have put much time and energy into, and I am glad it was covered because I feel like it is an area I need to focus on.

Communication really is key when it comes to teachers and coaches working together successfully. The relationship building and connecting between teachers and their students is an important aspect for student sucess and without that a lot of the other strategies will not be effective.
