Hi Charles- Thanks for your post to the forum. As long as you keep the diversity of your students' learning styles in mind as you formulate your lesson plans you will do a good job of varying your delivery. Composition is a tough one, especially for the kinesthetic learners. You can, for example, set up games and teams to move sentences written on posterboard with velcro attached behind to see which team comes up with the best format for an essay. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Faith- Thanks for your post to the forum. You are wise to use both practical and writtrn assessments. Student sometimes complain that if they know how to apply a specific skill there is no need to know all the theory/concepts behind it. However, as we know, unless they understand the reasoning they will not be able to expand their skill level as needed. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Thomas- from your description, you have an active learning classroom and are teaching to the learning styles -great work! Best wishes - Susan
HI Steve- Your post clearly portrays the value of teaching to the learning styles - excellent! Susan
Hi Steve- Thank you for your post to the forum. You are using some great delivery techniques to reach diverse learning styles. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Craig- Teaching a class that is so diverse is indeed a challenge. Being able to vary your delivery style to address all those styles is also a challenge but it comes with a big pay-off- they will learn! Best wishes- Susan
Hi Craig- Thanks for your post to the forum. We have SmartBoards but I'm not sure if we have used any anatomy video games. Great idea!! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Navinthran- Thank you for your post to the forum. Even after more than 25 years of teaching, I still am thrilled to see my students get drawn into and excited by a good discussion! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Craig- Thank you for your post to the forum. It is a very good practice to let your students know what the format of an assessment will be. Will it be essay? Multiple choice? Short Answer? So much of test anxiety is the fear of the unknown. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Arthur- Thanks for your post to the forum. I must say that I am very impressed with your classroom strategy. When students know that they MUST come to class prepared and have to produce work to ensure that preparation, they will, as you mention, be able to participate in the discussion. This results in an engaged class, sharing and receiving information, which makes lecture really not needed. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
