Hi Regina- Thanks for your post to the forum. You are obviously a very observant and emphathetic teacher! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
HI Rosita - Thanks for your post to the forum. All of the positive results of questioning are possible as long as we, as instructors, guide the questioning effectively. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Sandy - Thanks for sharing some good ideas on using CATs! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Jill - Thanks for your post to the forum. I'm glad that you mentioned that you use "checkpoints" for larger research projects. This is really important because as we all know, our students have busy lives and can easily fall behind and then be overwhelmed by a looming deadline. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Janice - Thanks for sharing that - using real life examples makes the material more relevant for our students. Susan
Hi Janice - I teach those classes as well and agree that using case studies and role play is very effective and makes the material more interesting as well as improving retention. Best wishes! Susan
Hi Janice - Thanks for your post to the forum. That's an excellent way to monitor your assessments. Great work! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Diana-Thanks for your post to the forum. This is why I think it is important to have a discussion about learning styles on the first day of class. Let the students know that you recognize that there are diverse styles in the class and that you will be doing your best to accomodate everyone. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Diana- It is interesting how classes can be so different. The upside is that it requires us to vary our delivery which keeps instructors fresh and constantly learning ourselves. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Jill- Thanks for your post to the forum. I agree that we have to do the best we can with the learning environment we have. If that means arriving at the classroom early to make sure it's clean (no trash, board erased etc.) then that's what we need to do. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
