Hi Mica- As I know I mention often, teaching our students to think critically is so important. As you mention, being able to back up an answer with evidence is almost as important as whether they have the right answer! In their careers, being able to demonstrate that they have researched a marketing plan, or an event plan, or a new menu etc. gives them credibility that will make them stand out as professionals!

Hi Crystal- I agree - frequent feedback is essential for students to improve. To rely on only mid-terms and finals is a diservice to our students.

Hi Crystal- Welcome to ED 103! I had no knowledge of learning styles when I was a student and wonder what a difference it would have made if I did back then! Toady, we really do seem to make our students partners in their learning rather than just empty jugs into which we pour our knowledge - a major improvement!

Hi Janet - you are in every sense of the word a "teacher". Your students are lucky to have you!

Hi Rulon - We too often encounter students who have minimal writing skills, especially in the area of grammar, and wonder how on earth they graduated from high school? Nevertheless it now becomes our task to give them that skill as well. It is often, as you know, not an easy task! "May the Force be with you!" ;-)

Hi Tony - You demonstrate a very analytical approach to assessment which is excellent. It makes no sense to keep administering the same tests without carefully and critically looking at the trends.

Hi Fortuna- As you point out, not evry form of testing works with every discipline and/or every group of students. The assessments you are using are very suitable.

Hi Carol- Yes, as you mention, students do enjoy talking about their own experiences. It's also good to try to remember some of your students experiences or interests so that you can mention them occasionally where they may fit in your lessons.

Hi Tony - what you are doing with your students is terrific! You are giving them so many opportunities to practice and really perfect their selling skills before they are thrown into the sales arena.
