HI Linnie- Thanks for your posts to the forum! You are doing a great job at showing your students how what they are learning is relative to their future careers. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career and happy New Year! Susan
Hi Mary - Thanks for your post to the forum. Your voice is a like a beacon of positivity!! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career and happy New Year! Susan
Hi - Thanks for your post to the forum! You mation an important point - our voices convey not only information, but the tone/volume that we use is vitally improtant to how our students perceive that information. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career and happy New Year! Susan
HI Kevin - I'm sorry that you have such a difficult setting in which to teach. The only consolation that I can give you is that after 30 years in education, I know how much of an impact we can have on our students lives. It is incredibly fulfilling to have a student email years after they have graduated to tell me that I made a difference in their life! Stay strong for your students! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career and happy New Year! Susan
Hi Mark- Thanks for your post to the forum! So many students seem not to realize the importance of communication skills, but as we all know that is a skill that employers find very important. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career and happy New Year! Susan
Hi Debra- You are doing an amazing job st helping your students to learn to apply their learning to their future careers. Best wishes and Happy New Year! Susan
HI Debra- Thanks for your post to the forum! I also teach on-line so have experienced similar problems. I find that, as you mention, students are often overwhelmed with the volume of information on an online class's site. I do not open the entire class at once but rather on a weekly basis. I make sure that there is a weekly "To-Do" list that is not only listed in the Assignments section, but is also included in the Announcements section that is also emailed weekly to the students. Best wishes and Happy New Year! Susan
HI Susan - Thanks for your post to the forum! If the test is meant to assess competencies that is what it must do to be effective. If a student is able to demonstrate that he has attained those competencies then he/she has been successful. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career and happy New Year! Susan
Hi Gilbert - Thanks for your post to the forum. I loved your comparison of "Sage on the Stage" to "Guide on the Side" - OK if I steal it??! Best wishes- Susan
Hi Gilbert - I am very impressed with the problem solving exercise that you describe. It clearly gets your students involved and is a process that they will undoubtedly encounter in the work-place - excellent! Susan
