Hi Thomas- Thanks for a great post to the forum. As you point out it really is important to be comfortable using delivery that works with every style. They may not all be necessarily used in every class but over the course of the entire class we should be implememting them all. Best wishes - Susan
Hi Krista- Thanks for your post to the forum. You gave a very good description of how to utilize the identified learning styles in creating effective assessments. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Kirsi - Thanks for your post too the forum. I have found that often new instructors prepare lectures and are intent on delivering them perfectly but fail to stop and let students be part of the convesation. Maybe that's the best way to describe what we should be achieving -conversations with our students or, as you put it Kirsi - "two way learning". Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Wow John - since I have never taught any culinary classes, I had never thought about the challenges that culinary instructors would face. Very challenging! Best wishes- Susan
Hi Richard- Thanks for your post to the forum. As you mention, we really do see a lot of diversity in our career college classrooms. Understanding the differences in how they learn is so important. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
HI John- Thanks for your post to the forum. I agree that we need to get feedback from our students and an anonymous online survey is ideal. Are your students required to complete it? If not, what percentage would you estimate complete the survey? Best wishes- Susan
HI Dawn - I really liked the way that you describe addressing all the learning styles- we can really feel the energy going on in your classroom! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Jacqueline- I'm glad that you found something useful to take away from this class! Best wishes- Susan
Hi Jacqueline- Thanks for your post to the forum. You are really ensuring that your assessments will be very comprehensive, which is excellent! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Christine- thanks for your post to the forum. I agree that since mostly in the online environment we are not synchronous, it can be difficult to do quizzes etc. that really give us info. Is it possible with your online learning management platform to have timed assessments? This makes it pretty tough to turn it into an open book test. Best wishes- Susan
