I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Hi Mike, Right you are. Your positive attitude will reflect on the class and help your students to be excited about the topic of the day. Gary
Hi Humberto, Right you are. I always compare it to a 3 legged stool. It takes all three legs in order for the stool to be useful. For the students that we serve the three key elements have to be planned for and made a part of the total learning environment. Gary
Hi Adarine, You are right about having a learning environment that is conducive to instructional progress. What are some methods you use to create a positive learning environment? Gary
Hi Shiv, Isn't that what instructors live for, the "Ah Ha" moment when the students actually get it and realize what we have been trying to teach them all along. Gary
Hi Shiv, John Dewey stated it well back in 1911 when he said "students learn best by doing". You make a number of excellent points about retention of material based upon student involvement. Career colleges must incorporate this form of instruction into their methodology if they are going to be successful. Gary
Hi Rodger Thanks for sharing your approach. I strongly believe anytime you can get both a professional and personal application retention will be greater. You are doing both. They can see how personal finances are an expansion of corporate finances. Should make for some very interesting discussions. Gary
Hi Raana, Good idea about taking students to the graduation ceremony. This gives them a clear picture of where they are headed if they keep their work up and stay with the program. Can be a strong motivator. Gary
Hi Perry, Glad that you got something that will be of help to you. Let me know how it works out for you. Gary
Hi Steve, Credibility, a great word and a tremendous concept. Hope the students can really grasp this because this is why we do what we do. Good examples of how to build credibility. Gary
Hi Teresa, Good strategy. Anything you can do to help students get invested in the class is a good thing. You are doing that by asking for their input. Keep up the good work. Gary
