Hi Ricardo, You make a number of very good points about how to establish rapport with students. Thank you for sharing this information I know it will be of value to other participants. Gary
Hi Maria, Not only will this help with retention but it really helps with rapport. By knowing more about your students and working with them they start to see how you really care about their future. Gary
Hi Dan, By sharing these real world experience you are showing your students that what you are teaching is relevant to their future careers. This really helps them to see why you are teaching what you are. Gary

Hi Maria, By REFOCUSING our selves we keep our interest up and are fresh and ready to go the next time we meet the class. It is necessary otherwise our teaching will become routine. Gary
Hi Walt, Thank you for those comments. The willingness to learn and grow are important attributes for a teacher. By you sharing your life experiences and expertise with your students you are creating a legacy of professionals for the next generation. Gary

Hi Al, Great attitude and reflection on how to keep your focus and REFOCUS when you need to. You have a heavy teaching load with lots of students and yet you are working hard to be on your A game and enjoy your teaching. I admire that. Gary

Hi Darlene, I really like your attitude and motivation for doing what you are doing. That is one of the key ingredients of teaching, the willingness to share. Keep on sharing and you will continue to grow. Gary
Hi Dan, I have found that in situations like this most of the students can be brought under control by talking with them privately and explaining what is going on. They often times don't realize how they have let the position go to their heads. After that when they get carried away I can just look their direction catch their eye and they realize that they need to back down a bit. I also will reassign them to another student with a strong personality and they will balance each other. Gary
Hi Darlene, Adults are still child like inside in many ways. I know we can treat them like children but on the other hand sometimes we can reinforce them like we do kids. Your stickers and smiley faces, etc. are evidence of that. Good job. Keep up the effort I know your students will benefit from your work. Gary
