About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

The Learning Environment Effect

Hi Jan, I like to use the round table discussion format in my classes because it creates a sense of community with each group. They are more willing to share in such a setting plus they can have eye contact with each other much better. They also feel more connected with their group in this setting. I use the straight classroom lecture setup some times and then break them into the round table setting. Becoming aware of retention strategies...

Hi Kathleen, You make a good point of how it takes input from a variety of sources to know how the students really feel about the instruction they are getting. Getting the input the way you are you can have an influence on how the courses go without hurting feelings or making anyone feeling uncomfortable. Gary
