About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Hi Russell, You have shared a very comprehensive picture of how instruction should be delivered and the reasons why. These methods I know will lead to learning success on the part of your students. Gary
Hi James, I like the way you spread out your approach for including every student in every class. This way you can keep your finger on the pulse of the class. Good job. Gary
Hi Ryan, Good use of your own learning experiences to help you plan for those of your students. I know they benefit from your experience base. Gary
Hi Kari, Great way to start a class. Your methods let the students get comfortable with the class and helps them to feel confident that they can pass the course. Gary
Hi James, That is what an instructional delivery expert (IDE) is all about. Learning how the students learn and then using that information to formulate strategies that will make it happen. Gary
Hi Joseph, Great example of why we teach. The opportunity to share our knowledge and train the next generation of professionals is something that we need to reflect on ever so often when we get down about our work load or other life stresses. Keep up the good work. Gary
Hi James, You are correct about there being a wealth of information about how to expand and improve your ability to deliver instruction. What we need to do as instructors is to have a personal plan that will provide us the opportunity to see, learn and profit from our experiences. This will help us to become better each time we enter the classroom/laboratory. Gary
Hi James, You are correct about learning from mistakes. These are teachable moments and we instructors should use them every chance we get. For sure the students will remember them and grow as a result of them. Gary
Hi Claudia, Good plan. I am sure you are going to see changes in how your students are engaged in the learning process. Gary
Hi Claudia, Good way to start the class. This way everyone knows the expectations and confusion will be greatly reduced. Gary
