About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Hi David, Good point about how to keep students focused at the end of their program. Instructors of these students need to work hard at keeping them engaged in activities that will keep them interested. Always a challenge but one that can be fun for a instructor as it requires some creativity and problem solving in coming up with appropriate activities. Gary

Hi Alexander, Great job on bringing relevant and current information into the classroom. One of the problems with textbooks is the lab between when written and when published. The shelf life of a text is about the same as that of a twinkie. Your realizing the need and meeting it is to be commended. I hope your material will be used throughout the system. Gary

Hi Kevin, You are right about the challenges of meeting the needs of thirty or more students. By offering variety in instructional delivery and different grouping of students you will be able to do this more efficiently. A suggestion would be to use your students as learning helpers through the pairing of them with other students as you progress through the course. I have found that students like to share and work with each other when given the opportunity. Gary
