Hi Randall, Well said. Simple and straight forward. We must know our students in order to be able to support and encourage them for success. The more effort the greater return. Gary
Hi Bill, What a great plan you have for starting a new class. You cover all of the bases in your approach so the students are clear on expectations and requirements. Your use of introductions helps to get the students comfortable and settled in to the class. Good work! Gary
Hi Gilbert, You are right on about needing to remind the students of the course requirements and expectations. They seem to forget at times and these reminders can keep them focused on what the course outcomes are going to be. Gary
Hi Amy, You are right about adult learners. They want to bring their life experiences to the learning setting. As instructors we need to allow them to build their confidence through participation and contributions to the course. Gary
Hi Lacey, You are on to something that is very important to the learning success of online students and that is the social presence. If the students can feel and see through your interaction with them on line that you care about their success they will have a much higher motivation level. Gary
Hi Wendell, You are correct about needing to have a comfortable learning situation for your students. The classrooms and labs need to painted and organized in such a way that the students feel that they want to learn in such a setting. Gary
Hi Robert, You are correct in your statement about knowing student characteristics making teaching easier. This information helps to give you insight to what they students need in terms of instruction support and how to target their learning needs. Gary
Hi Bill, You are doing a great job of balancing the different approaches to instruction. By involving students in the discussion of content and helping them to make applications to what they are learning you are making your content relevant. Gary
Hi Bill, Thank you for the excellent strategies you outlined for educators. All of the items you listed help contribute to learner success. We have to remind ourselves the reason why we are educators and that is to share our knowledge in a way that is meaningful and beneficial to the learners. Gary
