About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Becoming aware of retention strategies...

The connection between the student and the learning process helps them to create a future for themselves. Adapting Your Instructional Strategy

Hi Margie, You are right on target with your comments. What you outlined in your forum response is what all of us is facing in education. In many situations we don't have the research completed that will answer the questions about what technology should be offered, in what amount and how often. Maybe the way to teach is through tweeter. Just think 140 characters of information for each and every concept. Talk about condensing. We are conducting some learning acquisition research currently that may answer some of these questions but technology keeps coming at us so fast that we can't… >>>

Teaching to Multiple Intelligences

Hi Carl, This is why I get excited about working with multiple intelligences. Learning how people process information helps me to understand how I can communicate with them better. Understanding learner characteristics...

Hi Jeffrey, Something I have used with good success is a "one minute" paper writing exercise. The students have one minute to write on a topic, I generally have them write on their career goals or why they selected the career field they are in. The one minute writing effort doesn't take long and doesn't create stress for the students. I read their papers and this gives me an accurate picture of their comprehension, writing and expression abilities. This gives me a place to start in creating my assignments around their needs. Gary
