About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Understanding learner characteristics...

Hi Sean, There are a number of very good learning preference and multiple intelligence assessments on the web that you can access. I would suggest you look at some of them and select one that you think will work in your setting. Many career colleges do an intake assessment on learner preferences and if your college does this then you will have a profile of the incoming students from which you can plan your instructional delivery. Motivation techniques...

Hi Garry, Thank you for this excellent example of how an instructor can be successful by developing coping strategies to overcome weak points in their abilities. You have done in a positive way that serves as a teaching tool for your students. The slide rule is great I was trained on one when I was in college. Brings back many memories of struggling to master the concept of how to use it.
