Hi Eugene, Well said. Caring is a critical part of being an instructor. If the students know that then a solid foundation can be laid for their success. Gary
Hi Alicia, Good plan to make sure the students are clear on expectations and requirements of the course. The daily critiques of preparations gives them immediate feedback so they can work on improvement each day. Gary
Hi Steven, I like your use of students as evaluators on student assignments. They all get to contribute as well as have their own work evaluated for content and grammar. This really promotes cooperation and exchange between the students. Gary
Hi Christopher, A supportive comfortable learning environment is important. This helps to get them settled and ready for the course. This really enhances learning. Gary
Discussion Comment
Hi Darrell, Getting more information about the students also helps with developing rapport. The stronger the relationship the higher the retention rate is going to be because they see you as a person that cares about their success. Gary
Hi Steven, You are right on with giving your students prompt feedback. It is very important to the students and it really helps to keep them engaged in the course. Gary
Hi Darryl, You got the total package with your approach. I commend you for your dedication and excitement to and for your students. Gary
Hi Rachel, The key point is to personalize it. You are doing that by focusing on them the core reasons why they are taking the course and then expanding from there. Gary
Hi Sarah, Way to go in making your course expectations, requirements, and polices clear for the students. This way they know from the very beginning what is going to occur and when. Gary
Hi Richard, This is one of my favorite methods of teaching a course and it is because of just what you outlined in your forum response. It is real world, practical and fun. How much better can it get? The students grab a hold of the problem and I serve as the coach. It is motivating to see the growth that occurs throughout the course. Gary
