About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Hi Brenda, This method helps to keep the students engaged in the learning process for longer periods of time since you offer them a change of pace through the worksheets. Well done. Gary
Hi Barbara, That is very true. This is what student centered instruction is all about. Gary
Hi Lloyd, This is so true. It puts the instructor in the position of paddling upstream instead of being able to go with the flow of the class. It is so much easier just to start of with a great opening of class rather than trying to do a correction. Gary
Hi Maria, You are right it is a total package for instructors. They need to be aware of all that they are doing in their professional role. Students are very observant and we all must reflect professionalism all the time. Gary
Hi Craig, One of the keys to instructional development is getting feedback from a variety of sources. The more input we can have the more options we have to select from when comes to teaching. Good idea. Gary
Hi Betsy, Good professional development plan. You are doing a great job of staying current with your field and the "best teaching practices". This will continue to benefit the students as they become engaged in the learning process in your courses. Gary
Hi H, Great explanation of why you do what you do and the results you get from doing it. By preparing the next generation of nurses at the level you are you are leaving a legacy as well as offering excellent nursing skills for patients. Gary
Hi Julia, These classes do take a bit effort to get the students charged up and ready to learn. Your method seems to be working well as you are getting input from the students in spite of the early hour. Gary
Hi Bryon, Much of learning is based upon repetition. By hearing and seeing it a second time it really helps the students to retain the information and be able to respond to it later on. Gary
Hi Yingwei, This helps you to provide more targeted instruction by having this knowledge. Well put. Gary
