About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Hi Cecilia, You make a good point about making an impression that is a two way effort. You are right that students do like to make good impressions on instructors just as instructors need to make good impressions on the students. This is the basis for developing respect for both. Gary

Hi Ryan, I agree completely about the need for additional team building in the professional sense. By exchanging ideas and spending time sharing everyone can develop a sense of what others are doing plus develop an appreciation for how to work together. Gary
Hi Norma, Good point. This gives you a starting point for approaching the students when visiting before or after class because you know a bit about them. This personal touch is valuable when developing rapport and respect with and among students. Gary
Hi Kelly, You are right. By developing rapport with the students and being available to them you are sending them a very powerful signal that you care about their success. Keep up the good work. Gary
Hi David, I like this way of starting a class. This way there will be much less stress and confusion since the students know exactly what it takes to successful in your class. Gary
Hi Scott, Plus, you have to dig out of a deep hole if you get the class started off on the wrong foot. It is so much easier to do the planning and have a great first class. This way everyone wins. Gary
Hi Scott, This is a great way to receive feedback that is accurate and targeted. I do the same thing in my courses and this really helps me to customize the instruction as needed. Gary
Hi Eddie, You make a key point. You have to know where there students are coming from and by knowing their characteristics you can target their learning needs much better. Gary
Hi Brenda, This is a great way to keep on the cutting edge of instructional improvement. You all can bounce ideas off of each other and share strategies. I know you are going to have a great experience with team teaching. Gary
Hi Jeannette, I don't have any research that is published on this what was published was the multiple intelligence assessment. I do have a website that gives some information about our company and the Talent Key assessment that has come out of our research. The site is www.MICubed.com. You make an excellent point about the changes we are seeing in the learning preferences of students in this technological age. Gary
