About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Hi Alfred, These kinds of examples serve to illustrate what you are telling them as the instructor. This helps them to see they can have a rewarding future if they are willing to put forth the effort to acquire the needed knowledge and skills. Gary
Hi Lorri, Well said. Instructors have to take an holistic approach to all aspects of the course and as a result they will have completed the needed planning and preparation. As a result they will have the attention of students so they can fulfill the role of being a role model for the career field. Gary
Hi Tracy, What do you think your students appreciate most about their learning environment? Is the classroom setting, the computers access, etc. Based upon the kind of work that they will be doing once they graduate from the paralegal program. I am curious what they see is of the most value to them. Gary
Hi Rebekah, The key is to create a comfortable supportive environment for your students. For some fields it is difficult if not impossible to simulate the work setting so instructors need to do what you are doing. Bring to the students the content and experiences that they will need to be successful in their careers. Gary
Hi Ronald, Excellent comments on how to set up and conduct a professional environment for your students. By offering the latest content about the field you are doing a great service for your students. You are preparing them to not only pass their certification exams you are showing them what their future looks like. This is as you well know critical for graduate students because they have the basics from their previous educational experience so they are looking content and experiences that will take them to the next level in their career development. Gary
Hi Kathleen, Little successes really help students to build to the next level. By keeping them energized you are doing just that. They want to keep coming back to class to see what they will learn next. Keep up the good work. Gary
Hi Toni, Good plan for enabling students to zero into their learning preferences. Through a variety of offerings you are providing your students a number of alternatives for taking in course content. Gary
Hi Lisa, Yes, I do agree. It is fun to watch a master teacher work their "magic" with students because they know how to keep the interest of their students while offering relevant content. Gary
Hi Lisseth, This is great to hear! Always like it when a teacher has had a good start with a class. Way to go in handling a difficult situation and finding an alternative strategy for completing the class. The more of these experiences you have the better you will get at going another directions when a piece of media fails you or the students need to be taken a different direction than you had planned. Gary
Hi Esther, Your approach gives you a balance that is critical for teaching success. You are organized, prepared and ready to teach and that is what being a professional is all about. By making yourself accessible you are letting your students know you care about their success and are there for them. Gary
