About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Hi Sherrie, Passion goes a long way to help "sell" the career field and keep students engaged. I can tell from your comments that you are excited about sharing your knowledge and skills with your students. This leads higher student retention and satisfaction. Gary
Hi Maria, Good way to keep the students looking for designs on an international level by calling attention to events like major award shows. This way the students can start to see themselves in design situations such as that. Gary
Hi James, Right you are. ROI is critical for students to understand if they are going to stay engaged in the learning process. Gary
Hi Angela, This is a great format to follow. Your students are getting variety and application as you move through the segments of course and this keeps them engaged and focused on learning. Gary
Hi Anthony, Right you are. This format really does increase the retention of content and helps with application by students. Gary
Hi Angela, This similar to the format I use and I have had great results with it. I am sure you are as well. This gives you some real insight into the dynamics of your students and their reasons for being in the class. Gary
Hi Steve, I would be looking for examples of how psychology is used to sell products to people. I use a lot of examples from the advertising field to illustrate how psychology is used and applied. I also use examples from how products are branded. Just a couple of ideas that may be of help to you. Gary
Hi Jill, This is a very good point and is so true. Rapport helps to build the learning connection between instructor and student. Then as you say when a problem comes up the instructor can focus on getting the student through the problem and ready to continue to forward in his/her learning. Gary
Hi Angelo, Simple formula but often missed by students. Work does equal reward. The more often we share this with students the more likely they will start to understand this concept. Gary
Hi Angelo, This is what education is all about. Keeping current so you can offer the latest from your field is a professional commitment that is to be admired. Keep up the good work. Gary
