About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Hi Nick, I agree. We need to be on the look out to see how we can use these various technologies to help our students achieve success. Gary
Hi Al, Thank you for sharing your background with us as it relates to how you approach the classroom. Your student centered approach is to be commended as well as how you blend the course content with your life experiences. This method sets your students up for success if they are willing to put forth the needed effort. Gary
Hi Chris, By helping the students to "connect the dots" between the classroom and the real world instructors are providing a vision for the students that will keep them motivated and focused on their career goals. Gary
Hi Gary, Thanks for sharing this information on learning preferences. Gary
Hi Nicholas, Great points about how students can maintain their A game each time the enter the classroom. We are professionals and we need to do everything in our power to be current with our content and prepared with our delivery. Gary
Hi Tim, Thank you for this insight. It is so important to know and understand where students are coming from. For military personnel life can be very challenging and you are offering them understanding and support. In return they are helping with the younger students that are in need of assistance. This is a great combination for everyone. Gary
Hi Rachel, Well stated. An instructor has to have the entire package if they are going to be effective. You are presenting yourself as a model to the students as someone that has been successful in the field and is going to help them be successful as well. Gary
Hi Willie, Great example of how you can demonstrate learning progress with your students. As the progress in their skills they can see their competency development at each stage. This is a real motivator for students. Gary
Hi Jill, This is a good point. This is why good planning and organization is critical for student engagement. If they can see the connection between application and relevancy then they will stay engaged. Gary
Hi Stephen, Good point. The students need to know you are a student centered instructor. This will help with the development of rapport and respect so everyone will be comfortable in the class. Gary
