About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Reasons for Enrolling

It is unfortunate that those that really don't want to be in the culinary arts field don't have better career counseling so they can select a career that will give them the reward both personally and financially they are seeking from a career. Teaching to Multiple Intelligences

Hi Corey, Good point. I teach from 4 until 10 pm so I can relate to your point. Each class becomes a challenge because you are working hard to keep the students engaged and focused after a day's work and knowing they are facing long class sessions. We get to use all of our instructional strategies to pull off successful classes and then we can take a deep breath and get ready to do it all over again. Gary

Adapting Your Instructional Strategy

Hi Corey, Yes, trying to deliver instruction in the different learning preferences is a challenge but in trying to do so instructors get to be creative and the course doesn't become boring. This is what keeps us coming back year after year. We get to try new things with new students and then can see the results at the end of the course or with our graduates.
