The clearest thing I took from this module is that the means of assessment does not belong inside the goal, and the content-versus-method distinction is what makes that separation usable: a content standard measures what a student understands while a method standard measures what a student can do, and each asks for a different kind of flexibility. I lead curriculum map writing across the METT pathways, so the application is immediate. As my summer cohort builds scope and sequence maps this year, I intend to have every writer state the goal with the assessment stripped out and then tag each standard as content or method before we design a single activity, because that one habit decides where flexibility is honest and where the skill itself is the goal, and it keeps a standardized map from hardening into a standardized set of barriers.
