I think about how often the people who absorb the consequences of a project are absent from the decisions that shape it.

In a school district, a renovated lab can be declared complete while the teacher who inherits it has no plan for maintaining its equipment. A curriculum can be approved while the next instructor is left to reconcile its assumptions with the reality of the classroom.

From the perspective of the people delivering the project, the work is finished. For the people inheriting it, the real test has just begun.

This course has changed how I think about accountability across that transition. I want to identify the responsibilities that will outlive a project, establish who has the authority and resources to carry them forward, and preserve the reasoning behind decisions so the next person does not have to reconstruct it. I think we owe something to the people who inherit our work, especially when they had no voice in the decisions that created it.
