This module taught me that one of the most common instructor mistakes is focusing too much on authority instead of building respect and positive relationships with students. I learned that students are more likely to engage and succeed when they respect their teacher, and that respect is earned through fairness, consistency, professionalism, and genuine concern for students. I also learned that making a mistake in the classroom does not diminish a teacher's credibility; admitting mistakes and correcting them demonstrates honesty, confidence, and professionalism. In addition, effective classroom management depends on clear expectations, consistency, and creating a positive learning environment rather than relying solely on discipline.
I will apply this knowledge by treating students with respect, being consistent in my expectations, admitting and correcting mistakes when they occur, and maintaining an organized and well-managed classroom. By building positive relationships, communicating clearly, and modeling professionalism, I can create a learning environment where students feel supported, respected, and motivated to succeed.
