I learned that creating a supportive and engaging learning environment is just as important as delivering course content. Students succeed when they feel comfortable, safe, accepted, and respected, and when lessons are connected to their goals and experiences. Personalized feedback and knowing students’ names and backgrounds help build trust and motivation.
I can apply this by making an effort to learn my students’ names early, checking in on how they’re doing, connecting lessons to real-world applications, giving regular positive feedback, and creating a classroom atmosphere where everyone feels valued and included. This approach should help students stay engaged, confident, and more likely to succeed.
