Hi John, Great question about student level of passion and professionalism. Are you expecting too much from some of your students in relations to these two areas, the answer is probably yes. But, I don't think you can lower your expectations. I have found over the years, that some students don't share my passion for my field. That disappoints me. In return I have found that if I keep my enthusiasm up it catches on with other students and I feel good internally about the effort I have put forth in my teaching. I have always felt that I will give everything I have and not lower my expectations for my students. After all I am helping them to prepare to be successful in “their” chosen field of study. I am amazed when studentd select a field, pay money for training and then complain about having to study and work to gain the skills they need. What part of this picture am I missing? That is why I say you are probably expecting too much, but I admire your willingness to keep asking that “too” much effort. It does pay off in the long run. Gary
