Hi Jennifer:
Every class has course objectives. Of course, these have to be met. Most of our students are preparing for jobs, so besides the objectives, any skills or specialized knowledge we know they'll need to be successfull needs to be assessed.

Elsewhere in this course, we talk about pretesting. That could be another reason evaluating students - to determine what they know before a class begins.

In the end, "are they ready for the work setting" has to addressed. Evaluations help assess to what degree this has occured.
