Study guides are tricky, depending on the topic. If too specific, students will focus solely on the study guide information, and be bummed when they know everything listed but questions were asked that didn't appear on the study guide.
On the other hand, some topics are so broad, the teacher needs to narrow down the areas most important and most likely to be found on the test. Care has to be taken taht study guides are not thinly veiled versions of the test.
