Through this module on occupational trends for high-skill, high-wage, and in-demand careers, I learned how to strategically access and interpret regional Labor Market Information (LMI), such as state earnings projections and the Occupational Outlook Handbook, while aligning programs with Perkins V compliance standards like the Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment. I intend to apply this knowledge by integrating localized workforce data directly into classroom guidance and curriculum design, using real-world wage metrics, guest speakers, and clear pathway mapping to help students and their families make informed decisions about their postsecondary and career options.
This module taught the importance of helping students understand current occupational trends and the growing demand for high skill, high wage careers. Students need exposure to careers that are evolving due to technology, workforce shortages and changing industry needs. Having this information helps them make better informed decisions.
It is important for students to understand and research the job market in the area they plan to live in as many of the of the students choose to leave this area and move to larger areas.
Labor market needs are a good source of information to know when having discussions with stakeholders when looking at your WBL program assessment and improvement.
To emphasize the high demand and high wage aspect of healthcare careers to my students.
