Quiet students

Are there any other tools that can be used to help silent students get out of their shell?

Hi Ingrid,
I like to give my silent students lead roles, and I also make a point to ask them daily at least one open-ended question to generate conversation.

I use an open ended question on shy or quiet students. I then compliment them on their reply and use it as a base for further discussion with the class. Feeling like an outsider seems to be a common problem with quiet students and this helps them to feel more part of the group. It works %99 of the time!

Hi;
I agree shy students can be a challenge. I use to be one. Talking in small groups and then presenting to the class works well for me. Don't put them on the spot.
