In my class you can see a wide range of ages, from right out of High School, to some one in their 50's. By trying to stay informed of the current events and allowing yourself to be knowledgeable on all fronts of a subject, you can see "eye to eye" with your students no matter what age they are. When you do this it puts you on that students level and you look more "human" and accessible.

I dont think that you are able to do any hands on training without at least some basic lecture.

I do not like to type.

Remember, not everything is as it seems.

its a way to tell what they dont know, thats for sure.

just dont think that prerecorded lectures are the way to do it. it is to cold and stand-offish.

Your learning environment, i.e. class is your domain that you are letting people into so that you can pass on your knowledge. You must be cognizant of the fact that no two people are the same, nor do they learn in the same way. Let yourself be more flexible in your delivery style and I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the response by your students.

Teaching a class is like performing on stage, you have spent your entire life perfecting your craft, (art) and now it is time to put it in front of someone that is wanting to receive what you have to give. they are actually paying to watch you "perform". When you make eye contact with a student and you are perfectly confident in your ability to pass on the knowledge that you have, it is noticed right away by the student, the same as a performer on stage is noticed to be a master at their art from the audience. I was always taught to not set far reaching goals, but rather goals that were more reasonable, for example, do not say "I'm going to climb Mt. Everest" but rather " I can get to the first 500 feet today and take on the rest later" Make your goals easier to obtain and you wont get frustrated.
