Activity

1st impressions come around one time.   Do your best to have a positive 1st impression by being prepared on the 1st day of class.  Introduce yourself and discuss your professional experience to validate your area of expertise in the subject the students are about to learn.  Help students feel at ease by informing them of class objectives.  Learn student's names so they will know you care about them and their own personal goals.

The syllabus is the contract between you and your students.  It clarifies what is expected of students and informs them when certain topics are covered, when projects are due, and giving test dates.  Being prepared daily is a must for teachers.   Greeting students early as they come into class in a relaxed atmosphere not only shows students how prepared you are, but also indicates you are ready to help them achieve their goals!

Lead by example.  Be professional and courteous to students and staff.  Love your profession and motivate students to strive and do their best.   Constantly work to improve your own knowledge so you can share the latest, greatest techniques with your students.
