I think of generational differences in the classroom as an aspect of adult learning that influences individual learning styles. There is no one-size-fits-all solution to accommodate the learning preferences of all generations. Just as lectures work better for auditory learners than kinesthetic learners, and imaginative activities engage right-brain learners more so than their “just the facts, ma’am” counterparts, some approaches work really well for learners from one generation but aren’t well received by those from other generations. The key is to include a diversity of methods, modalities, and techniques in order to address a diversity of preferences.
I just completed my training and it confirms how our attitudes and attention to each student is important. To motivate and guide them through the journey of their program of education. Understanding the situation this students can have as barrier and provide assistance to overcome some of the challenges.

My students aren't motivated - how can I help them?
Instructors have a lot to do with their students' motivational level. A student may arrive in class with a certain degree of motivation. But the instructor's behavior and teaching style, the structure of the course, the nature of the assignments and informal interactions with students all have a large effect on student motivation. We may have heard the utterance, "my students are so unmotivated!" and the good news is that there's a lot that we can do to change that.

I have students work in groups of two on assingments to review patient chart notes and abstract the key words to choose the correct diagnosis for each patient. But I would like some help in this area.

I have students doing a project in groups of 3, they do research create a powerpoint and also 2 page report and they split the work between the 3 of them and also one leads the project and delegates to the other students. They practice teamwork and the information to present in class.

Everyone in our institution must understand that the student success is the primary measure of our success. We all must be committed to this objective to help with our student stay in school.

I think our campus could use some of these services to help our student succeed: tutoring, in house counselors or advisors, counseling referral programs, student advisors’ etc. I have several of students with extreme personal issues and they are trying to be committed at the same time, but it’s overwhelming for them. I have several that are struggling and it’s real hard to keep up with each one and their issues and keep the whole class focused at the same time. I try my hardest to keep reaching out to them but I really think they need more help then… >>>

Team work is so important for the students. Every aspect of the school services needs to keep this in mind. We all need to provide the students with the best of our services in all areas of our school. We all need understand the student’s needs are important in every area and we all need to work together to make sure we all give the student the same message of how important they are and how much we care for their success.

I believe we need to be honest with our students prepare ourselves to do our best and respect every person regardless of the situations they have. Teaching them to take one step at time and helping them to have confidence in themselves with the obstacles in their lives will help achieve their goals of completing their courses. Some of these students have challenging lives and it can be very tough at times and being there mentor has helped the students continue to be committed.
