About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Lamarr, You have it! It is a win-win stituation for all when active learning is invovled. Students have fun, and they really do grasp and retain the information. Patricia Scales
Hi Jean, I agree! Guest speakers are very inspiring and motivating! Students need to hear it from someone else that the struggles of becoming educated is worth it in the end. Patricia Scales
Hi Gary, Students love it when they have a visual to go by to do a particular project. Students tend to get it when they can see it! Patricia Scales
Hi Pamela, When we can share examples with students they have more of an interest in the course. Students really enjoy listening to stories that are applicable to course content. Patricia Scales
Hi Albert, I love this approach. I like how you provide theory to teach it, do it, and then let the students do it, and you are critiquing them along the way. What a valuable lesson. Patricia Scales
Hi Harper, I like how you make the students think. When students come up with the answer on their own the information really does stick more. Patricia Scales
Discussion Comment
Hi Karmle, I like the response! It takes everyone, and we all are customers. Patricia Scales
Hi Brittney, It is solely the instructor's responsibility to manage the class. If the instructor does not manage the class things will get out of control. Even adult learners like structure. Patricia Scales
Hi Amanda, It is paramount to interact with students. Students like it when we talk to them and get to know them. Building relationships is important in education. Just make sure that the relationships are professional. Patricia Scales
Hi Maryl, I agree! It is nothing better than to have a guest speaker who is a graduate of the college, and they are in the position to hire. Most graduates who are in the position to hire will look out for those who are from their school. Patricia Scales
