Organizational culture is important because it shapes how people behave, interact, and perform within a workplace. Positive cultures increase job satisfaction, reduce burnout, and lower turnover. A healthy culture promotes respect and quickly addresses unprofessional behavior.

For admissions and faculty to truly align, they need to function less like separate departments and more like a continuous pipeline supporting the same student journey—from inquiry to graduation.

For example in nursing, faculty can help define competencies needed for success (study skills, critical thinking, professionalism). Faculty can also share syllabi highlights, workload expectations, and common challenges.

ways to improve retention:

Engage students actively
Reinforce learning through repetition and retrieval
Use multimodal teaching and reflection
Apply knowledge to real-world contexts
Monitor understanding with frequent feedback

Gamification improves clinical Skills & Safety. It helps with critical thinking, clinical reasoning and clinical judgment, too.

Show students the immediate relevance of material being taught.

Draw on their past experiences.

Effective communication is more than just the exchange/sharing of words. It includes one's attitude and tone. The later ones are most important. Otherwise, we only see lips moving....

Glad to see we now consider social determinants and its impact on students' HEI trajectory.

Learning about the diff. management styles was insightful. I learned each has (+)'s and (-)'s, and which is best for optimizing SN learning.

I really enjoy the idea of assigning the role of "observer" to "center-stage" students, who will take notes, summarize and share with class ONLY after called upon by instructor.

I like the idea of using index cards to get to know SNs names. I, also, like the idea of arranging students in a circle/half circle, when able.

Another method I have used is upon calling a student with a raised hand, have them state their names. This was helpful, too!
