By discussing this type of delivery at the onset of class, I find that many are willing to buy in once they understand the stakes are low and they can make a mistake.
Before students can be involved in this, it should be defined so they know the expectations and the rules of it. This allows them to feel safe.
Making a list of things you can and cannot control will help decide what stress you can deal with. Many times we worry about things we have no control over.
You need a place to talk and that is not your classroom. There is NOTHING wrong with adding personal things into your lecture...they humanize you...but it is just a passing statement. It does not become a 5 minute discussion.
Try to keep that inbox at a reasonable pace. Not everything has to be done right away but at the same time if people are waiting for you to respond, it needs to be cleared daily.
You can only be the best you can be if you are good with yourself. That means you must take the time for self-care or make deals with yourself to stay happy.

Students should know the purpose of the game you are using and what they get in regards to benefits. If it is not a good fit, do not use it!
I believe a good instructor can involve students in any arrangement or sitting variety. They just need the transparency to do so. This isn't magic based on how I am seating you.
As an instructor, your class can become a reflection of who you are. The words you use, the way you say things, the way you do things, all of those will lead into the personality of the class.
