In the massage industry, many people coming into the training are already hands on people. They have been practicing on family and friends for years. One of the things I find they have problems with is first introductions. They are unaware of marketing ideas for the massage practice. Introductions on the first day for me helps to determine the style of the group. I hand out pennies with the years of 2000 to 2010 on them. Every new group of students starting the program brings the Good, the Bad and the Indifferent. The Good student is there for all the right reasons. This student wants to better their life, wants to learn and realizes the education will not flow into their head by osmosis. They ask for help when they do not understand, they try and generally are self starters. Then there is the Bad student. This student may have the want to learn but lacks the tools to get the job done. The student could also go really Bad if the tools given to them… >>>

I have to agree. Dealing with the students is always something we have to have constant updating on.

I truly enjoyed this course. It helped me to understand the requirements needed to be compliant. One of the biggest was the "education" hours. Our college uses the 50-minute hour. This was one of the changes which needed to be implemented. It was good to have this information early, so the changes could be done now.

I am lucky because at work the college brings professional development to us on a quarterly basis. The training staff has a suggestion box for us to bring ideas to the table for consideration for the next PD session.
